COCKPIT
This box was added by a previous owner to store propane tanks, but the cushion height was too high. We decided to remove it along with two smaller storage boxes located under the combings and replace all three with one long bench seat.
With the side boxes removed, the scuppers can better handle deck wash.
The original davits had been lost, but I was able to find these '50s era Wilcox/Critteneden aluminum davits at a used marine equipment store.
Propane tanks are bolted to the cockpit floor. The propane grill (overhanging transom) stows in port compartment. 12V dinghy winches await installation to transom framing.
New storage uses cockpit space more efficiently and offers comfortable seating while underway or at anchor. A new ladder replaces the basic factory ladder.
Dinghy winches are hidden and protected in the compartment under the seat.
